The deck-to-coping detail is the single most visible element of a finished pool and the place where bad sequencing shows up most. When the deck contractor arrives months after the pool builder has left, the result is almost always compromised — wrong expansion joints, mismatched elevations, coping that telegraphs through the deck within a freeze cycle.
